Reading Around the World

Reading around the world is travel inspired by reading and reading inspired by travel. Reading Around the World is a blog about literature and literary travel around the world.

Sometimes you read to travel and sometimes you travel and read. Connecting literature with literary travel helps us experience the world through the imagination of a writer and the reality of a place. Experiencing culture through storytelling helps us travel more meaningfully.

I read 50-100 books a year, but my personal challenge is to read more deeply and more meaningfully and to connect readers with unique books. By pairing travel with literature, I hope to understand the places I travel to through their literature, to share my travel experiences, and to build a home library of literature that will outlast generations.

Books on this site are recommended and cataloged by continents. On the Books By Continent page, all books listed are those I have read and recommend. As the list grows, I hope you join me in growing yours.

I seek books that are meaningful to a culture, and I publish book recommendations along with journals of literary travel and cultural immersion in places that give credence to the beauty of literature.

I welcome both lovers of global literature who read to be transported to different cultures, and travel enthusiasts open to engaging with a culture through its books.
